「BECKEN」という思想
そもそもBECKENって、ドイツ語で「盆地」って意味なのです。
形状
山に囲まれた場所に、いろんなものが流れ込んできて、
そこで少しとどまり、混ざり合って、
気がつくと新しい何かが生まれている――
そんな場所のイメージから、この名前をつけました。
衣・食・住って、ただの生活の道具じゃなくて、
人の手や想いが入ることで、
その人らしさや美しさがにじみ出てくる。
それってもう、ひとつのアートだと思っていて。
毎日の営みの中に、表現がある。
暮らしそのものが、総合芸術になるんじゃないかって。
YES,BECKEN!!ってイベントも開催してるんですけど。
作り手と消費者が実際に話すことによって
生み出される何かがある気がしていて
イベントの際にガッツリ話したり話聞いたりなんてことって意外とありそうでなくて、
それも話をしたからだと思ってて。
YES,BECKEN!!自体も、第一回目は「餅つきしたい」ってくらいのイベントをしてたのが、
回を重ねるごとに、たまたま結びついて大きくなって行ってるんです。
私たちは撮影していると、いろんな人の話を聞くんです。
それで作ったモノって、中身はどうであれ“想い”が込められてると思ったんです。
BECKEN MAGAZINEでは、そんなものづくりの現場にある「モノ」――
たとえば作品、料理、道具、空間、そしてそこにある物語や思想――
そういうものを、丁寧に、美しい写真と一緒に伝えていきたいと思っています。
つくる人の想い、それを届ける人のまなざし、
それぞれの手が重なって、
ひとつの「モノ」ができあがっていく。
自分ひとりでは決して生まれなかったかたちが、
誰かと関わることで、少しずつ見えてくるんです。
BECKENは、そんな「関わり」が生まれる場所でありたい。
「これが正解」っていうスタイルじゃなくて、
もっと自由で、もっと自然体で。
たとえば「今日はなんだか、美味しいものが食べたいな」
そんなシンプルな気持ちも、ちゃんと大切にしたい。
いろんな考えや想いが集まって、混ざって、
その日だけの“頂”みたいな瞬間が生まれる。
そんな場を、一緒につくっていけたら嬉しいです。
What is BECKEN MAGAZINE?
“Becken” means “basin”—like a valley surrounded by mountains.
A place where many things flow in, stay for a while, mix together,
and before you know it, something new is born.
That image is what inspired the name.
We see clothing, food, and shelter not just as necessities,
but as forms of personal expression.
When someone’s hands and thoughts are involved,
their unique beauty naturally shines through.
And that, to us, is already a kind of art.
In our everyday lives, expression is always present.
Life itself can be a form of total art.
We also host an event called “YES, BECKEN!!”
We believe there’s something powerful that happens
when makers and consumers get to talk face to face.
It’s rare, even though it seems like it should be common.
These connections happen almost by chance.
As photographers, we hear a lot of stories.
And through those stories, we’ve come to believe:
no matter what the thing is,
if someone made it, then it’s filled with feeling.
BECKEN MAGAZINE aims to share these “things” born from the creative process—
not just the objects themselves, like artwork, food, tools, or spaces,
but also the stories and ideas behind them.
We want to present them with care, alongside beautiful photography.
The maker’s intent. The storyteller’s perspective.
Layer by layer, hand by hand,
each creation comes together.
Some things could never be born alone—
they only take shape through connection.
And that’s what we want BECKEN to be:
a space where those connections can happen.
Not one fixed style, not a single “right” answer.
Just something freer. More natural.
Like when you simply think,
“Today, I just want to eat something delicious.”
Even those small desires matter.
When different thoughts and feelings gather and mix,
a kind of fleeting summit moment appears—
just for that day.
We’d love to create that kind of space, together.
